> STRC stalls at 99.53 as MSCI dates Strategy deletion

*Bitcoin Hashpoint, October 16, 2026*

STRC gave back twenty-one more cents on Thursday to close at $99.53, which puts the discount at forty-seven cents and ends the march toward par for a second consecutive session. The close landed three cents above the $99.50 line this publication named on Wednesday as the level that would date the entire repair to equity proceeds. MSCI finalized the rule that prices those proceeds on the same day, adopting its non-operating-company methodology with November 11 for the removal list and November 30 for the effective date, and Strategy sits on the removal side of it. Bitcoin trades at $81,863, which reads 1.2473 times the power-law floor of $65,633 and 0.5239 times the median of $156,269, after a session that touched $79,806 and recovered.

## STRC and Strategy

Twenty-six cents Wednesday, forty-seven cents Thursday. The instrument has now retreated two sessions running from the $99.90 high of October 13, and it did so while the ten-year fell thirteen basis points on Thursday morning and another three on the week. The dashboard's own escalator rule reads the ten-session pace at three tenths of a cent a day and puts the next monthly rate at 12.25% against the 12.00% declared on July 1, a structural read of the rule rather than a company statement. Effective yield on Thursday's close runs 12.057%, the issuance state reads marginal for a sixth session, and the September 30 payment of fifty cents stands as the most recent.

MSCI aims at the other half of the machine. Companies that fail at least four of five financial tests lose eligibility for the Global Investable Market Indexes, existing members generally need two annual reporting periods of failure, and the removal list publishes November 11 for a November 30 effective date. JPMorgan's earlier work on the digital-asset version of this proposal put Strategy's direct forced selling near $2.8 billion.

That matters here for one reason. Strategy funds both its coin purchases and its STRC repurchases through the common equity window, and the October 13 filing bought 250 coins for $21.5 million at $86,194 while retiring 1,932,145 STRC shares for $192.4 million. Nine dollars into the paper for every dollar into the asset. A rule that prices the equity lower raises the cost of repairing the preferred, and Hashpoint's own analysis holds that the monthly repricing schedule on this variable-rate instrument throttles the accumulation rate. The coupon cannot answer October until November 1, nineteen days before the index list lands.

Strategy filed nothing in the last twenty-four hours and the next weekly release comes Monday. Holdings read 848,250 coins at a stated average of $75,444, a position worth $69.44 billion with a cushion of $6,419 a coin and $5.45 billion in total. Repurchase capacity stands near $354.8 million of the $2.0 billion authorization.

STRC closed at $99.53, forty-seven cents under par, a second straight retreat from the $99.90 high of October 13.

![strategy purchases panel](https://bitcoinhashpoint.com/content/panels/2026-10-16/strategy-purchases-3e509744.png)

The October 13 filing bought 250 coins at $86,194 against $192.4 million of STRC repurchases.

## Macro and yields

The curve eased for a second session and the dollar broke. The ten-year reads 5.10% after a 5.044% low on Thursday morning, the two-year 4.75%, the thirty-year 5.44%, and the ten-year real yield 2.76% after an eight basis point decline. The dollar index fell 0.86% to 101.67 and heads for its first weekly loss in five weeks.

Two prints drove the week and both ran hot. September consumer prices rose 3.7% annually against a 3.6% consensus, and producer prices rose 1.3% on the month against a 0.5% forecast and 6.3% on the year, the fastest in roughly four years. CME FedWatch cut the odds of an October 28 hike to 27% from nearly 45% at Wednesday's peak.

Fed Chair Kevin Warsh appears at the IMF annual meetings in Bangkok, scheduled 11:30 PM Eastern Thursday. Industrial production prints at 9:15 AM. Brent sits near $105.37.

The two sentiment needles disagree by nineteen points. Market mood, the Crypto Fear and Greed Index from https://www.google.com/url?q=http://alternative.me&source=gmail&ust=1792232906391000&sa=E, reads 53 in Neutral on October 15 after 62 the day before and 64 a week ago. The Hashpoint structural composite reads 34 in Fear on October 14, down three points, with band position at 11.9 its weakest input.

![macro context with btc price panel](https://bitcoinhashpoint.com/content/panels/2026-10-16/macro-context-with-btc-price-862ed5ed.png)

The ten-year eased to 5.10% and the dollar index fell 0.86% to 101.67 while September producer prices ran 6.3% annually.

![fear and greed panel](https://bitcoinhashpoint.com/content/panels/2026-10-16/fear-and-greed-8374865e.png)

Market mood reads 53 in Neutral against a structural composite of 34 in Fear, a nineteen-point gap.

## ETF flows and supply pressure

Thursday settles at $5.1 million positive, which ends nothing and resolves nothing. IBIT took $16.8 million, BTCO shed $4.1 million and Grayscale's BTC shed $7.6 million, against Wednesday's $261.4 million redemption and Tuesday's $175.7 million creation. Cumulative net flow reads $57.032 billion. SoSoValue counts the week at $146.2 million negative so far, a second consecutive weekly outflow.

Supply pressure reads 2.1251, counting 28,689 coins of institutional buying over thirty days against 13,500 of issuance. The box's own absorption work puts the thirty-day pace at 850 coins a day, 1.89 times the 450 mined. Exchange balances read 2,675,717 coins after a thirty-day drain of 31,725, and one of six structural tripwires sits on watch.

![spot etf daily net flows aggregate panel](https://bitcoinhashpoint.com/content/panels/2026-10-16/spot-etf-daily-net-flows-aggregate-48ab7a43.png)

The funds took $5.1 million on October 15 after shedding $261.4 million the session before.

## Power law and network

Thursday's close of $82,131.46 reads 1.2514 times the floor and 0.5256 times the median. Price fell to $79,806 inside the last day, its first trade under $80,000 since mid-September, then recovered 2.6% off that low to $81,863 on $30.95 billion of volume and a market capitalization of $1.645 trillion. Cycle position sits at 0.1140 and MVRV at 1.5254, and Bitcoin carries a 0.80% weekly loss and more than 2% off on the month.

The network answers today. Blocks arrived every 545 seconds through this epoch against the 600-second target, and CoinWarz estimates the retarget at 12:57 PM UTC lifting difficulty 6.12% to 140.84 trillion from 132.716 trillion. Hashrate on the October 15 observation reads 998 exahash per second with a three-day median of 1,077. Block 971,626 puts cycle four at 62.7% complete with 78,374 blocks to the April 2028 halving.

![btc price and power law bands panel](https://bitcoinhashpoint.com/content/panels/2026-10-16/btc-price-and-power-law-bands-b458a475.png)

Bitcoin at $81,863 sits 1.2473x the power-law floor of $65,633 and 0.5239x the median of $156,269.

Blocks cleared in 545 seconds and today's retarget lifts difficulty 6.12% to 140.84 trillion.

## The Bull View

- Investing.com: Bitcoin rose 1.9% to $82,130 as bargain buyers met the drop under $80,000

- Trading Economics: the ten-year real yield fell eight basis points to 2.76% and the dollar index lost 0.86% to 101.67

- CoinDesk: CME FedWatch cut October hike odds to 27% from nearly 45% at Wednesday's peak

- Farside Investors: the funds returned to creations at $5.1 million after Wednesday's $261.4 million redemption

- Grayscale: Bitcoin's one-year realized volatility fell to 43% against a ten-year average of 64%

- CoinGabbar: Strive upsized its SATS preferred offering to 7 million shares at $90 for roughly $630 million, settling October 20

- Bitcoin Hashpoint dashboard: spot ETFs absorb 850 coins a day, 1.89 times daily issuance

The bull case leans on a dollar that cracked and a rate that eased twice running. For the second week this quarter, the two prices that pull capital away from Bitcoin moved in its favor at the same time.

## The Bear View

- FXStreet and Cointelegraph: MSCI adopted exclusion rules that put Strategy on the removal list, effective November 30, with the list due November 11

- CoinDesk: Bitcoin traded at $79,950 on Thursday morning, its first print under $80,000 since mid-September

- Investing.com: SoSoValue counts $146.2 million of ETF outflows this week, a second consecutive weekly loss

- KuCoin: September producer prices ran 6.3% annually and 1.3% on the month, with energy up 10.8%

- Nocta: a $489 million liquidation cascade took price under $80,000 and left Bitcoin roughly 8% below its September peak

- CoinDesk: CoreWeave's 2032 bonds reached yields near 15% and the Kospi fell 20% over seven sessions

- CryptoTicker: today's Deribit expiry carries a 1.37 put-call ratio with 2,746 contracts at the $78,000 strike

- Bitcoin Hashpoint dashboard: STRC retreated a second session to $99.53, widening the discount to forty-seven cents while the ten-year fell

The bear case leans on the index rule and the credit tape. MSCI's November dates put a price on Strategy's equity window at the moment the company needs that window to repair its own preferred, and the AI financing scare keeps pulling capital out of every levered asset.

## The Hashpoint read

The preferred retreated for a second session while the rate that is supposed to govern it fell, and the equity channel that paid for the repair got a deletion date on the same day. That pairing is the structural fact of the week. Wednesday's twenty-six-cent discount read like the approach to par; Thursday's forty-seven cents reads like the approach stalling three cents above the line this publication set as its test.

The bulls read the rate correctly. The ten-year eased to 5.10% from 5.36% on Wednesday, the real yield gave back eight basis points to 2.76%, the dollar lost 0.86%, and Bitcoin took 2.6% back off its low. That is the capital-pull channel working the way the bull case wants, for the first time in a week. What the bulls skip is the altitude. Price at 1.2473 times the floor and 0.5239 times the median still sits in the lower quarter of its own band, with the structural composite at 34 in Fear.

The bears read the index rule correctly and misread its size. Strategy's own August filing counts index-tracking funds at 13 million shares, 3.1% of basic shares and under a day's volume, against JPMorgan's $2.8 billion estimate for the earlier proposal. Existing constituents also need two annual reporting periods of failure, so November 30 starts a process rather than ending one. A $5.1 million ETF print and a $489 million liquidation cascade describe a thin tape, not a broken holder base, with supply pressure at 2.1251 and Strategy's cushion at $5.45 billion.

Three markers carry into Monday. The first is $99.50, missed by three cents on Thursday. A close under it before the November 1 reset, on a ten-year at or under 5.10%, dates the whole repair to $192.4 million of equity proceeds and company cash, and a return above $99.90 says the buyback still sets the price. The second is Monday's filing, where another week of nine-to-one spending on the preferred over the asset confirms the throttle in the company's own ledger, and a flip back toward coins says the November index date changed the plan. The third is $80,000. Thursday's $79,806 low broke the $80,400 floor this publication named on Wednesday, and a close under $80,000 on an easing ten-year would say the capital-pull channel explains less of this tape than three weeks of these editions assumed.

![daily synthesis panel](https://bitcoinhashpoint.com/content/panels/2026-10-16/daily-synthesis-a38b7604.png)

At cycle position 0.114, Bitcoin sits in the lower quarter of its power-law band, far nearer the $65,633 floor than the $156,269 median.
