The Hashpoint for October 14, 2026
· Dennis W. Davis
Bitcoin Hashpoint, October 14, 2026
Both numbers this publication measures the spring against moved the bulls' way on Tuesday, and neither released anything. STRC closed at $99.90, ten cents under its $100 par and the narrowest reading of a run that now spans 104 sessions. Traders cut the odds of an October 28 rate hike to roughly 45% from near 70% after New York Fed President John Williams ruled out hikes in 2027. The ten-year Treasury still sits above 5.2% and the real yield at 2.87%. Bitcoin reads $83,074 this morning, 1.2680 times the power-law floor of $65,515 and 0.5326 times the median of $155,989.
STRC and Strategy
Ten cents. The discount narrowed from twelve cents on Monday and thirty-four and a half cents last Friday, and the issuance state reads marginal for a fourth straight session. Zero of the last thirty trading days closed at or above par. The effective yield reads 12.012% on the $12.00 declared rate that took effect July 1.
Strategy filed nothing in the last twenty-four hours, so the October 12 release still governs: 250 coins for $21.5 million at an average of $86,194, the company's smallest weekly purchase of 2026, against 1,932,145 STRC shares repurchased for $192.4 million. That put $8.95 into the preferred for every dollar into Bitcoin. Hashpoint's own analysis holds that the monthly repricing schedule on this variable-rate instrument, rather than the size of its discount, throttles the accumulation rate. The ten-cent gap tests the price half of that argument and leaves the calendar half alone, because the coupon cannot answer anything until November 1.
Holdings read 848,250 coins at a stated average of $75,444, a position worth $70.47 billion this morning with a cushion of $7,630 a coin. Repurchase capacity for the preferred stands at $354.8 million of the $2.0 billion authorization, roughly five more weeks at Monday's pace. Michael Saylor told Bloomberg on Tuesday that Bitcoin "should definitely move back into the six figures."

Macro and yields
Rate expectations repriced hard and the curve barely answered. Williams said he sees no need for further hikes in 2027 while allowing that one more this year may suit, and CME FedWatch odds for October 28 fell to about 44.8% from nearly 70%, on CoinPedia's read of the tool. Monday's edition carried 19% for October from a different source, so treat the level as disputed and the direction after Williams as the part worth keeping.
The term structure gave a basis point. The two-year reads 4.78% and the thirty-year 5.55%, each a point lower, with the long bond still eighteen points above where it sat a month ago. Trading Economics reports the ten-year erasing an early pullback on Tuesday to hover above 5.2%, naming energy prices and new Treasury supply tied to AI debt. The real yield reads 2.87%. The dollar index held at 102.22, and Brent gained 0.7% toward $106.
September CPI lands at 8:30 this morning. Consensus puts headline inflation at 3.6% to 3.7% against August's 3.4%, with a monthly gain of 0.6% from gasoline and fuel oil, while core consensus reads 2.5% annually and 0.2% monthly, below August's 0.3%. The two halves of the print point opposite ways and the market will pick one.
The sentiment needles converged, and the mood needle did the work. Market mood, the Crypto Fear and Greed Index from https://www.google.com/url?q=http://alternative.me&source=gmail&ust=1792059983721000&sa=E, fell twelve points to 57 in Greed on October 13 after 69 the day before, while the Hashpoint structural composite slipped three points to 35 in Fear on October 12. The gap closes to 22 points from 31, exactly as Monday's edition warned it would, and it closed because the crowd cooled rather than because the capital data improved. Band position reads 12.2 out of 100 in that composite, the weakest of its four inputs.

ETF flows and supply pressure
The funds came back. October 13 settles at $175.7 million positive, the largest daily intake since October 6, and no fund redeemed a dollar. FBTC carried $103.1 million of it, IBIT $65.9 million and MSBT $6.7 million. That single session recovers a quarter of the $678.9 million the complex lost over the week to October 9, its worst since June. Cumulative flow reads $57.288 billion.
Supply pressure moved the other way, and that matters more than the headline inflow. The index reads 1.9020 against 1.9892 on Monday, so the thirty-day window now counts 25,676 coins of institutional buying against 13,500 of issuance. Exchange balances fell 270 coins to 2,674,559 on the October 12 observation, ending a three-session rise, while the thirty-day drain widened to 35,772 coins. IBIT alone added 5,502 coins on the week.

Power law and network
Price went nowhere against the bands for a second day. Bitcoin touched just under $83,900 in Asian hours and faded to $83,074 by six o'clock Eastern, three cents below Monday's close of $83,101.99. CoinGecko puts the session 0.30% lower and the week 0.90% lower, inside a range of $82,919 to $84,025. The floor multiple reads 1.2680 and the median multiple 0.5326, against 1.2755 and 0.5357 on Monday. Cycle position holds 0.1209, MVRV reads 1.5435, and none of the six structural tripwires lights.
The network printed its highest reading of the series. Hashrate on the October 13 observation reads 1,077.15 exahash per second against 999.34 the day before, a thirty-day gain of 11.56%. Blocks arrive every 8 minutes 27 seconds, 171 of them in the last day, and that pace pulls Friday's retarget forward. CoinWarz now estimates 4.7% higher at 138.95 trillion on October 16, revised up from 3.73% on Monday. Block 971,312 puts cycle four at 62.53% complete.

The Bull View
- CoinDesk: Bitcoin climbed 1.5% toward $84,000 after Williams ruled out 2027 rate hikes
- CoinPedia: October hike odds fell to about 44.8% on CME FedWatch from nearly 70% before the remarks
- Farside Investors: spot funds took $175.7 million on October 13, the largest inflow since October 6, with no fund redeeming
- Trading Economics: the two-year and thirty-year each eased a basis point, to 4.78% and 5.55%
- Crypto Times: core CPI consensus of 2.5% annually and 0.2% monthly points to cooling underlying prices
- Crypto Times: Saylor put Bitcoin's return since August 2020 near 38% a year and called six figures a matter of time
- CoinDesk: ZEC rose nearly 7% to about $1,270, with Ether up 2% to $2,520
The bull case leans on a dovish Fed voice and a flow print that turned. Williams moved the October meeting from a coin flip toward a hold, and the funds bought on the day he said it.
The Bear View
- CoinDesk: Bitcoin faded from $84,000 to about $83,200, boxed between a $81,000 fifty-day average and a $84,000 ceiling
- CoinPaper: the funds bled about $680 million across October 5 to 9, including $244.1 million on October 8
- KuCoin: Strategy's 250-coin week is its smallest purchase of the year while redemptions continue
- Trading Economics: the ten-year erased an early pullback to hold above 5.2% on energy prices and AI-related Treasury supply
- Crypto Times: headline CPI consensus of 3.6% to 3.7% would mark a third month of acceleration from 3.4%
- CoinPaper: open interest keeps falling, and QCP Capital flags $80,000 to $82,000 as its buying zone
- CoinDesk: FxPro's Alex Kuptsikevich said Nasdaq caution "is preventing Bitcoin from spreading its wings"
The bear case leans on a ceiling that has held four times and a headline inflation number that points up. Price has failed at $84,000 repeatedly this month, and gasoline alone could add six tenths to September's index.
The Hashpoint read
Ten cents and five basis points. That is the whole distance between where the market sits and where both halves of this publication's framework would break. One STRC close at or above $100 reopens Strategy's issuance channel, and a ten-year under 5.15% would put the capital-pull channel in retreat. Tuesday was the best chance either side has had, and neither line gave.
The bulls read Williams correctly and read the curve carelessly. Rate expectations repriced by roughly twenty-five points of probability while the term structure moved one basis point at each end, with the ten-year above 5.2% and the real yield at 2.87%. A market that believes the Fed is finished does not pay 5.55% for thirty-year paper.
The bears read the ETF week correctly and the Strategy number carelessly. A 250-coin purchase looks like capitulation until the reader notices the company funded it from an equity window with $18.8 billion of capacity left and spent $192.4 million the same week holding a reference price on its own paper. That is allocation, not distress.
This publication reads supply pressure as the day's most useful number. It fell to 1.9020 from 1.9892 on a day the funds bought $175.7 million, so the thirty-day window shed more institutional demand at the back end than Tuesday added at the front. The headline inflow covers one session and the structural measure covers thirty.
Two markers carry into Thursday. The first lands at 8:30 this morning, where a headline near 3.7% against a core near 2.5% forces the curve to pick a number, into a coupon fixed through November 15 and a buyback with $354.8 million left. The second is the dime: one close at or above par takes the machinery out of the throttle argument, and a slide back past $99.50 on a flat ten-year dates the entire repair to $192.4 million of equity proceeds.
