The Hashpoint for October 15, 2026

Bitcoin Hashpoint, October 15, 2026
The ten-year Treasury fell nearly thirteen basis points to 5.05% on Thursday, clearing the 5.15% line this publication named yesterday as the test of its own capital-pull argument, and Bitcoin lost 3.30% to $80,802 in the same hours. The rate moved the way the bull case wanted and the price refused to follow, because the bid for duration came from money running out of Asian chip stocks rather than from any shift in policy. South Korea's Kospi fell 9% intraday and tripped a circuit breaker. Price reads 1.2322 times the power-law floor of $65,574 and 0.5175 times the median of $156,129, the weakest pair of this run, and STRC gave back sixteen cents to $99.74.
Macro and yields
The whole curve came down together. The two-year reads 4.72% after eight basis points, the thirty-year 5.40% after thirteen, and the ten-year real yield 2.76% after eight. The dollar index gave back 0.50% to 102.04, a day after a one-year high.
That rally arrived against two of the hottest inflation prints of the year. September CPI came in Wednesday at 3.7% annually against a 3.6% consensus and August's 3.4%, with core inflation at 2.6% against a forecast near 2.5%. This morning's producer price index rose 1.3% on the month, the largest advance since March 2022, and 6.3% on the year, with gasoline up 20.3% inside it. The implied probability of an October 28 hike jumped from 22% to roughly 50% on KuCoin's read of the futures.
A curve that rallies thirteen basis points into a 6.3% producer print prices a growth scare, not relief. Samsung Electronics lost more than 11% and SK Hynix more than 12%, the Nikkei fell more than 5%, and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index dropped more than 4% for a sixth consecutive session.
The hard data contradicted that scare the same morning. September retail sales rose 0.8% against a 0.3% consensus, with August revised to 1.1%, and initial jobless claims came in at 199,000 for the week to October 10 against 198,000 the week before. Neither number describes a contraction. The bond market bought safety from an equity tape rather than from the economy the data measured.
Both sentiment needles rose and the gap widened anyway. Market mood, the Crypto Fear and Greed Index from https://www.google.com/url?q=http://alternative.me&source=gmail&ust=1792159309137000&sa=E, gained five points to 62 in Greed on October 14, while the Hashpoint structural composite added two points to 37 in Fear on October 13. The spread reads 25 points against 22 on Wednesday, and the live mood print already reads 53.

STRC and Strategy
Sixteen cents back. STRC closed at $99.74 on Wednesday against $99.90 on Tuesday, which puts the discount at twenty-six cents and ends a four-session march toward par. The run reaches 105 sessions and 153 calendar days from the last close at or above $100 on May 14. The issuance state reads marginal for a fifth session and the effective yield 12.031%.
K33 put a number on the machinery this morning. Vetle Lunde modelled Strategy without most of its 2026 preferred financing and found holdings of 843,303 coins against the actual 848,250, so the $7.5 billion raised through STRC in the first half bought roughly 4,947 coins. Annual preferred dividend obligations rose from about $830 million to $1.56 billion over that stretch, with STRC accounting for $725 million. At $83,000 a coin that runs near 8,740 coins a year, which erases the 4,947-coin gain in about seven months. Lunde's summary: "The tortoise wins."
Strategy filed nothing in the last twenty-four hours and the next weekly release lands Monday, so the October 12 filing still governs: 250 coins for $21.5 million at an average of $86,194 against 1,932,145 STRC shares repurchased for $192.4 million. Holdings read 848,250 coins at a stated average of $75,441, a position worth $68.54 billion with a cushion of $5,361 a coin and $4.55 billion in total. Repurchase capacity stands at $354.8 million of the $2.0 billion authorization. Hashpoint's own analysis holds that the monthly repricing schedule on this variable-rate instrument throttles the accumulation rate, and the coupon cannot answer October until November 1.

ETF flows and supply pressure
The funds reversed Tuesday's print and then some. October 14 settles at $261.4 million negative, the heaviest redemption of the month past the $244.1 million of October 8. FBTC carried $152.7 million and IBIT $110.9 million, while BITB took the session's only creation at $2.2 million. Cumulative net flow reads $57.027 billion.
Supply pressure went the other way, which splits Wednesday's marker rather than resolving it. The index reads 1.9480 against 1.9020 on Tuesday, counting 26,298 coins of institutional buying against 13,500 of issuance. Exchange balances rose 1,698 coins to 2,676,257, the thirty-day drain narrowed to 32,077 coins, and the annual drain ratio eased to 0.2542 from 0.2779. One measure firmed and three loosened.

Power law and network
Wednesday's close of $81,566.29 marked a 1.85% loss from Tuesday, and this morning took another 3.30% off that inside a range of $80,275 to $83,822, with market capitalization near $1.624 trillion on $41.93 billion of volume. Cycle position reads 0.1110, MVRV 1.5146, and none of the six structural tripwires lights. Forced closures took out close to $1 billion of positions in the last day, and ether accounted for $286 million of that against Bitcoin's $197 million.
The network kept climbing while price fell. Hashrate on the October 14 observation reads 1,083.96 exahash per second, a thirty-day gain of 13.11%, with blocks arriving every nine minutes against 132.716 trillion of difficulty. CoinWarz now estimates Friday's retarget 6.23% higher at 140.99 trillion, up from the 4.7% it carried Wednesday. Block 971,470 puts cycle four at 62.60% complete.

The Bull View
- Trading Economics: the ten-year fell nearly 13 basis points to 5.05%, the thirty-year to 5.40% and the two-year to 4.72%
- Trading Economics: the dollar index gave back 0.50% to 102.04 one day after a one-year high
- CoinPedia: CryptoQuant counts 84% of 164 tracked analysts bullish, up from 37% in July
- Cryptonomist: price holds above its fifty-day and two-hundred-day exponential averages at $80,299 and $74,961
- CoinPedia: TSMC posted a record third-quarter net profit of NT$763.1 billion, up 69% on the year and ahead of consensus
- KuCoin: Standard Chartered won authorization to offer Bitcoin and ether trading in Dubai, and European regulators designated USDC a significant e-money token
The bull case leans on a curve that broke lower across every tenor and a dollar that eased with it. For the first time since September, the two prices that pull capital away from Bitcoin both moved in its favor at once.
The Bear View
- CoinDesk: close to $1 billion of crypto bets liquidated, with ether at $286 million against Bitcoin's $197 million
- CoinDesk: Bitcoin fell from near $84,000 to about $80,400, and a daily close under $80,400 breaks a floor buyers defended twice
- Farside Investors: the funds shed $261.4 million on October 14, the heaviest redemption of the month
- TradingKey: September producer prices rose 1.3% on the month, the most since March 2022, and 6.3% on the year
- CNBC and BeInCrypto: core CPI reached 2.6% annually against a forecast near 2.5%, with a 0.3% monthly gain
- Associated Press and Chaincatcher: September retail sales rose 0.8% against a 0.3% consensus, which leaves the Fed a consumer still spending into a hot print
- CoinPedia: the Kospi fell 9% intraday and halted on a circuit breaker, Samsung lost more than 11% and SK Hynix more than 12%
- Crypto Times: K33 puts the STRC program's contribution at 4,947 coins and says the dividends erase it in about seven months
The bear case leans on the reason the curve rallied. Treasuries caught a flight from semiconductor equities, and the same risk aversion that bought the ten-year sold everything else, Bitcoin included.
The Hashpoint read
This publication set five basis points as the test yesterday and the market delivered thirteen, in the right direction, on the wrong engine. Bitcoin fell 3.30% through it to $80,802, which is 1.2322 times the floor and 0.5175 times the median, the weakest reading of this run. Count that against the capital-pull half of the thesis.
The bulls read the curve correctly and read its cause carelessly. Every tenor fell, the real yield eased eight basis points to 2.76%, and the dollar gave back half a percent. A market that rallies government paper thirteen basis points while producer prices run 6.3% annually, retail sales run 0.8% and claims sit at 199,000 is buying safety from a stock chart, not pricing an economy that has stopped. That bid skipped Bitcoin entirely.
The bears read the tape correctly and read the balance sheet carelessly. A $261.4 million redemption and a billion dollars of forced closures describe a bad session, not a broken holder base. Strategy sits on 848,250 coins with a $4.55 billion cushion, no tripwire lights, and supply pressure rose to 1.9480 on the day the funds sold.
The K33 work measures the throttle in coins, which makes it the most useful number of the month. Four thousand nine hundred forty-seven coins against $725 million a year of new dividend obligation states the escalator-lag argument in Strategy's own ledger rather than in basis points. Nothing in the instrument's design changes before November 1.
Three markers carry into Friday. The first is $80,400, a floor that held twice this month and that this morning's low of $80,275 already pierced intraday. The second is the dime running the other way: a slide past $99.50 on a ten-year at 5.05% dates the entire STRC repair to $192.4 million of equity proceeds. The third is the engine test. If the ten-year holds under 5.15% for three sessions and price recovers as equities steady, the capital-pull channel earns its place here. If price keeps falling on a falling rate, the channel is description rather than mechanism, and this publication will say so in print.
