The Book of Blocks: The Omega Candle Prophecy
· Dennis W. Davis

On December 6, 2023, with bitcoin near $44,000, Samson Mow sat down to tidy up the vocabulary. "Let's clear up some #Bitcoin terminology," he wrote on X. "A God Candle has long been established to be $10k up on the daily, aka Big Green Candle. A $100k green candle? Not as yet named. I propose: Omega Candle. A $1M green candle? Also not yet named. Ideas?"
Every great book needs a few prophecies, and that post gave Bitcoin one of its loudest. The Omega Candle is a single day in which the price climbs $100,000. It has never happened. Its prophet has promised it again and again, and at the October 22 close of $81,307 it would more than double the price between one sunrise and the next.
This page sets the prophecy beside the ledger, and then does the arithmetic the prophecy leaves out.
The naming of the candles
A candle, on a price chart, is one period of trading drawn as a single bar, from the opening price to the close, with thin wicks for the extremes. Traders have called any towering green bar a "god candle" for years; no one has documented who said it first. Mow gave the slang a ladder. A god candle meant $10,000 up in a day. An omega candle meant $100,000. The rung above that he left open for the crowd to name, and it remains unnamed as of this page.
He has never been shy about the authority involved. "It's written in the #Bitcoin whitepaper that I get to name the candles," he posted on December 15, 2024. The white paper says no such thing, which is the joke.
The prophecy, in the prophet's words
Mow kept the candle in view through every turn of the market.
- January 5, 2024, days before the spot ETFs opened: "You may think an Omega candle is impossible, but it's very real."
- November 29, 2024, with bitcoin approaching $100,000, to Cointelegraph: first comes the god candle, "and after that, we'll start to see Omega candles, which are 100,000 increments daily."
- February 24, 2025, on a $1 million bitcoin: "My guess is it's going to be this year."
- January 12, 2026, after the year ended near $88,000: he moved $1 million to 2031 through 2033, reached through steady gains with years of "multi Omega" candles mixed in.
- January 28, 2026, on stage, quoted by The Bitcoin Conference: "I told you the God Candle was coming. I'm telling you again that the Omega Candle is coming, along with $1.0M #Bitcoin."
The pattern is an old one in the Book of Blocks. A dated call misses, and the prophet moves the date while keeping the vision.
The candles the record keeps
The real ledger holds giant days, and none of them comes close to $100,000.

| Date | What happened | Size |
|---|---|---|
| April 12, 2013 | From a low of $98.20 to a high of $150.85 | About 42%, low to high |
| November 18, 2013 | From $494.94 to $712.76 | About 42%, low to high |
| October 25, 2019 | From about $7,450 to $10,540 on the day China's president called for blockchain development | About 42% low to high, the biggest daily gain since 2011 |
| November 11, 2024 | The week after the U.S. election | More than $8,400, the largest daily dollar gain on record, by Galaxy's count |
| Early February 2025 | A rebound inside the tariff selloff | The first $10,000 daily surge, Bitbo reported |
Two things stand out. The biggest days in percent all came when bitcoin was small enough for a few buyers to move it a long way. The biggest days in dollars all came after it grew large, when a modest percent became a big number. The god candle arrived the way Mow said it would, through size, not through a miracle.
The units problem
Mow himself supplied the key to the prophecy. "An omega candle is nothing in terms of fiat money," he said in December 2024. "Like the debt increases by a couple of omega candles every day." He added that omega candles already print every day against weaker currencies, such as the Turkish lira and the Egyptian pound, where a large price in local money takes only a small move.
The Omega Candle is a fixed dollar amount, so its size in percent shrinks as the price grows. That one fact turns the prophecy upside down.

- When Mow named it, near $44,000, a $100,000 day meant a gain of about 227%.
- At the all-time high of $126,198 in October 2025, it meant about 79%.
- At the October 22 close of $81,307, it means about 123%. That would add roughly $2.0 trillion of market value in a day to a network worth about $1.6 trillion.
- At about $238,000, a $100,000 day equals the biggest percent day bitcoin has ever had, roughly 42%.
- At $1 million, it is a 10% day, a size bitcoin has printed many times.
So the prophecy contains its own escape hatch. At today's price, an Omega Candle asks for something the record has never shown. At a high enough price, it asks for an ordinary busy day. The hard part of the prophecy is never the candle. The hard part is the price level that makes the candle easy.
The unnamed rung shows the same thing at a larger scale. A $1 million day at the October 22 close would mean a gain of about 1,230%. At $10 million a coin, it would be another 10% day.
The older prophecy underneath
The Omega Candle is new, but the vision behind it is the oldest one in the canon. On January 11, 2009, eight days after the genesis block, Hal Finney replied to Satoshi's release announcement on the cryptography mailing list. "As an amusing thought experiment," he wrote, imagine that Bitcoin becomes the dominant payment system in the world. Its value would then match the world's household wealth, which he put at $100 trillion to $300 trillion. "With 20 million coins, that gives each coin a value of about $10 million."
Six days later Satoshi added the line every prophecy in this book descends from. "It might make sense just to get some in case it catches on. If enough people think the same way, that becomes a self fulfilling prophecy."
Later writers gave the vision names. Daniel Krawisz called it hyperbitcoinization in 2014. In 2021 a chartist known as Wicked drew it as a curve that goes vertical and named it Stock2FOMO. The Omega Candle is that vertical curve seen one day at a time. Finney's version had no date and no candle. It was arithmetic, offered with a smile, and it still stands open.
What Hal would say
The Hashpoint's own node carries Finney's name, and he has no opinion on candles. Hal counts blocks. Each one pays its miner 3.125 new bitcoin, whatever the price did that day, and the schedule ends at 20,999,999.9769 coins, whatever the price does after that. A god candle does not mint a single extra coin. An Omega Candle would not either.
That is the quiet structure under the loud prophecy. The supply side of Bitcoin never takes part in the excitement. Every candle, green or red, comes entirely from people changing their minds about what a fixed number of coins is worth.
Verdict
Will the Omega Candle come? The Book of Blocks does not forecast, and neither does Hal. The structure says this much. The prophecy is really two claims in one costume. The first is that bitcoin reaches a price level where $100,000 is a normal-sized day, somewhere north of $238,000 if it is to match the record and closer to $1 million if it is to look routine. The second is that a single day captures the jump. The record supports the second claim cheaply once the first comes true, because large prices make large dollar days out of ordinary percents.
So the candle is the costume, and the level is the prophecy. If the Omega Candle ever prints, it will arrive less as a miracle than as a rounding of the units, and the ledger will record it the way it records every other day: one more block, about ten minutes after the last.
